Accommodation and Facilities

Small image of Lord Kitchener Holiday Centre

Long gone is the dormitory style accommodation originally provided for ex-servicemen using the Centre and the bedrooms can now compete with the standard offered by many of the better hotels.

The building has an automatic fire detection and alarm system which is regularly tested. An automatic lift for up to three people serves the basement, ground and bedroom floors. Wheelchair access is available via the rear basement entrance but the lift will not take an unfolded wheelchair and so any disabled user has to be ambulant.

On the ground floor there are two TV lounges and a reading lounge which has several small separate seating areas, a games table and a small library. The dining hall is air-conditioned and has separate tables, each with armed dining chairs, and is also where a three-quarter size snooker table and piano can be found.

There are ten twin-bedded bedrooms, five on each of the first and second floors, and three on each floor have sea views. They are all tastefully decorated and each has an en-suite suite bathroom with an over-bath shower and a wc (two now converted to walk-in shower-rooms).

There are two mobility scooters available for hire at £15.00 per week and a folding wheelchair which may be used free but any of these must be pre-booked if required.

No nursing facilities are provided. There are some simple aids to assist elderly or lightly disabled guests but the facilities are unlikely to be suitable for a higher degree of disablility. Please check with the Manager at the time of enquiry.
