Half board (room, breakfast and an evening meal) is provided in the mid-nineteenth century building which
overlooks gardens and the sea. There are ten guest
bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and furnished to a comfortable
standard, befitting those who have served their country. There is a lift and
three public lounges and meals are served in the air-conditioned
dining room.
The aim
of the management is to keep the total cost for each visitor at or below the minimum
income support level.
This is only achieved by sponsorship from several major service charities who regularly
contribute
towards the cost each year:
Army Benevolent Fund Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund King George's
Fund for Sailors (also known as 'Seafarers')
Their funds, however, have suffered from
the prevailing low returns from their investments and the Holiday Centre has no reserve of funds of its own and to continue to provide
the service is always looking for both practical and financial help. If you
could help in some way, please see 'Support'.
